1 YEAR CHECK-UP

Lily had her 1 year check-up today. The nurse said she wanted to take Lily home with her and that she should be the poster child for happy babies! That was before she got 3 shots. She did not want to wave bye-bye to the nurse after that. The doctor said she looked great and that we should start mixing small amounts of whole milk to the formula until I run out. She also said we need to give up the bottle, and then give up the pacifier. I think Lily will be fine with the bottle since she takes a water sippy cup with every meal, but the pacifier is another story. It's still like a sleeping pill to her, and I'm not looking forward to hearing her cry for it all night long.
Lily is walking (see video below) and saying 5 words now: dada, mama (still only when she cries, I don't know why she refuses to say mama!), light, Jack (for Jackson), and hot. She is only saying the beginning sounds for light and hot, but the doctor said it counts if she is consistently saying them about the same object. O.K., here are her stats:

Weight- 18 lbs. 2 oz. (10th %)
Height- 29 1/2 in. (70th %) Lily is turning into a little stringbean!
Head Cir.- 18 3/8 (90th%) We can always count on 90th % for her head!

Lily, you are such a big girl walking down the hallway all by yourself and eating with a spoon. I think that you would make the perfect poster child for Happy Babies too. Good luck Mom on trying to get rid of the pacifier. Maybe she will give it up without too much fuss. :-)
Love, Mimi

My precious grandchild, your Grandmother misses you something terrible. My sugar has run very low. I will have to hop a plane and come again and replenish my supply. I love you very much.

Lily is walking very good. She's a big girl and doesn't need any help! She's a big girl eating with her spoon too.
